FINAL WORKDAY

Here is one of our homeowners Cassie & her daughter. It was a joy working for them this week. We will miss the cheery smiles & warm hospitality.

Some of you may remember Don & Lizzy from trips past. Here is their pic. Don makes all kinds of minature woodworking items & sells them from his home & also in the craft shop at the Camp.

Don had a few strokes & had heart suurgeries in recent years, so some of the team stopped by their home to see how he was doing & say hello. When they arrived, Don was exhausted from trying to stand on a chair & hold his hands over his head to install a ceiling fan. God had the team stop by just at the right time. They had that fan up for them in no time. Don couldn't stop thanking the team for their timely help.
Don't you just love those God interventions?

Today we pushed to "get er done".I'm sure glad Conner was helping. Jeff & Dave couldn't have done it without him. Thanks Conner!

We will be heading home at 5:00 AM. That's in about 5 hrs so I better get some shut eye.

Thank you Dave for helping with the blog and many thanks to friends, family & Chapel Church for alll your prayers & finacial support for this Henderson trip. We Love You All !

The Henderson Team; Todd & Suzi, Bob & Carol, Jeff, Dave, Matt, Muriel & Chris.

MORE PICTURES FROM KENTUCKY

This little guy is Conner. He wanted to help us work today. He learned how to cut drywall & mud. He also helped Jeff carry the drywall they cut together.
Steve Price would have been working with our team this week, but he went & got a real job so he couldn't come. Steve, Conner was your substitute and he did a good job. He even worked in his SpiderMan PJ's.

Thursday - A Great Day of Work

Pictured above is Muriel working in the Community Store, sorting clothing that is then offered for sale to the local community.
Pictured top right is Bob and Carol Peel who are working in the administrative office this week clipping Campbell Soup labels that the Settlement then uses to purchase vans. It takes 1.6 million labels to purchase a van so start saving for Henderson.
And finally, pictured to the right is our Team/Trip Leader, Mr. Todd Krout, working on installing new flooring in the second project that he and Matt are working on.

Today was a "break" day so several of us went to the Cumberland Gap National Park and toured the Gap Cave. It was very "cool". Above Todd and Suzi pose with some buffalo.
Above the tour group is stopped on the trail listening to the guide. In the background is the Cumberland Gap which Daniel Boone entered through to go "west".
Above pictured is Cleopatra's Pool inside the cave...

Photos from the Flooring Job:

Matt & Todd dropped off food for a family that Matt met when he was here in August. They had a new litter of miniature Doberman Pinchers and wanted to give this one to Matt to take home with him.
Matt got to break in his new 14.4 volt cordless drill putting down underlayment..........All that power.......you the man Matt!

Here is Matt & his homeowners, Ben & Sheila Cox. Ben is disabled with a back injury from being thrown 75 feet by a tornado.

The Underlayment is down!

When Todd & Matt came back to camp for lunch they were concerned how they were going to move some of the appliances. To their surprise the homeowner Ben, had most of them moved till they got back.
Now the underlayment is complete & ready for the new vinyl tiles..
Here is a photo of Todd finishing the luan. Gotta love that bright yellow. Kinda grows on ya.

Rags the Dog

Jeff Rohrbaugh hard at work installing an outside spotlight for Cassie and her family and fixing the soffit.

Chris teaching us how to cut dry wall and install it. She also taught us how to "mud". Christopher, Cassie's youngest son, asked Chris to teach him how to mud and offered to help us tomorrow.

This is the new addition to Cassie's trailer. It is 16' x 12'. We are installing the electric and dry walling the interior.

This is "Rags" the family dog. He is very old but is very friendly. He doesn't move too fast but can still make his way around the trailer.

WHAT A DAY !!!

Today was a dozy. On the addition job we must have held thee same piece of drywall up to the ceiling 10 times before we could get it to fit. Talk about out of square. Pray for the 3 sets of arms that held it up while I fastenend it. Especially for Suzi. She is 5' 3'' & vertically challenged to start with..haha. Good news is we have half the drywall hung.

Here is a pic of Chris & Christopher & Conner.

The room we are doing is for Christopher & his soon to be wife Erica. Their 2 kids share the adjoining bedroom. The trailer is his mother's and he is staying there to help care for her.

Tomorrow we may stop back at Cassie's house & put up the other 4 sheets on the ceiling ...after we go to tour a cave in the morning. We need a little break.

Monday - The Work Begins

Today we began our projects. We are putting electric, insulating, and dry walling a new addition to a trailer for one family, and we are repairing a kitchen floor and putting in new vinyl for another family. They are both very nice families.

Unfortunately I forgot my camera this morning and Matt's camera is not compatible with this computer so no new pictures of our project yet. We will post some tomorrow from the projects but I have attached one of Matt I think you will enjoy.

Arrived @ Henderson Settlement

We arrived on Saturday evening safe and sound... everyone is doing well. After a good nights sleep we got up today and went to church across the street at New Hope United Methodist Church. It was a very nice service. After church we drove back down the mountain to Middleboro and had lunch at Ryan's Buffet which was great. We picked up a few items at Wal-Mart and headed back up the mountain.

On our way back we stopped at the home some of use will be working at. It sits back up on the side of a mountain. The family was very nice. Kassie, the lady we are going to working for, was not there; she is currently in the hospital but her daughter told us that she may be coming home tomorrow. We were warned about snakes at the house; they had just killed a copperhead and a rattlesnack just about an hour before we arrived to visit.

We are just hanging out today resting and getting to know some of the other folks here for the week too.

Thank you to all that are praying for us and have been so supportive of missions.
